The Importance of Tracking and Cloaking Affiliate Links

Tracking and cloaking links is a very important step for you as an affiliate. Tracking your links will help you see where your sales are coming from. Cloaking your links can help with Search Engine Optimization, click through rate, and in preventing affiliate theft. UnderstandShorten Your Linksing how to do each of these is key to increasing your income as an affiliate marketer.

First, let’s discuss cloaking links. If you’ve ever seen the way affiliate links tend to look, you’ll agree that they are quite ugly! Many people are fearful of links that they are not familiar and will not click them. This can dramatically decrease your conversions.

Wouldn’t you rather click a link that looks like: http://yourdomain.com/clearyouracneinstead of: http://affiiliatenetwork.com/eoaihreohroeihrhauierheurhauer1223? People will be more likely to click through the cloaked link because it is “pretty” and appears to come from your domain name — they trust it more without even thinking about it.

Many people also suspect that cloaking your links can help with search engine optimization. There is evidence out there that search engines like Google do not like pages with many affiliate links on them. Cloaked links are thought to be more search engine friendly. You will want to test this yourself, but it may improve your rankings if your affiliate links are cloaked rather than bare.

Another reason you may want to cloak your links is to prevent affiliate theft. If another affiliate marketer runs across your link, they may be tempted to insert their affiliate code or user name in place of yours. This is very common among Internet marketing products since your readers are likely to be affiliates too. If you cloak your link it might not be as obvious that they can “steal” it, thus preventing theft of your commission.

There are many different tools you can use to cloak your link. If you are using WordPress, then you’ll love something like the Simple Link Cloaker plugin. It makes it very easy to cloak your links with a few clicks, and it’s completely free! There are dozens of other options if you’re using a different setup.

Tracking where your sales are coming from is also an important step. Thankfully, many affiliate networks will do a lot of the tracking for you. You’ll be able to see which specific links were clicked on if you add a tracking ID to them. For instance, when you generate links through ClickBank they will allow you to add a tracking ID to the end of each link you generate. There are also other tracking options out there that can go even further, such as Prosper 202 (free) and Xtreme Conversions.

The depth of tracking you are able to use will depend on the tool you choose to do the job. Some tools can track things as deeply as which keywords are working best and leading to sales. Others just track what links are getting clicked on and how many sales they generate. Gathering this information is very important so you know where to expand your marketing efforts, increasing the amount of money you are able to make online.

Press Releases and Distribution

In the online world it is easier than ever to publish a press release, but many small businesses don’t even publish one per year. This often overlooked online marketing tactic can be a great benefit for any local business that wants to create name or brand recognition. It is a great service to provide your clients and can be done quickly. Just follow these pointers and start helping your clients get new customers.

There are several benefits to press releases. The first thing they do is provide visibility for the business or brand. They can also help with a SEO campaign and provide back links that the search engines will pick up. Once a press release has been distributed, then it has a chance to get picked up by news organizations which can provide an explosion in website visitors.

The first step is to create the actual press release. Many organizations believe that they dPress Releaseson’t have anything newsworthy to say, but this is usually just an excuse for not doing it. Almost anything can be turned into a press release. Just think about what is happening in the business to get some ideas. Are there any new products, services, or technologies being offered? Is there something in the local news that the company has some expertise in? Are there any new locations being opened? Even a new website design can be a good topic for a press release. Generally, all press releases follow the same format. First, it starts with a headline and then a short summary.

Next is the body of the press release that contains the newsworthy content. Finally, location, date and contact information is provided. Creating the press release is a straightforward process and can be outsourced to free up more of your time.

After the press release is written, it is time to distribute it. There are many services on the internet, both paid and free that will post and distribute your article. Paid distribution services will give you a wider selection of distribution partners and added features. If you choose a paid service, make sure that they syndicate to Google news for maximum exposure.

The many free distribution sites will only have a limited number of partners, so the press release will not go to the major outlets. Even though their reach is limited, it will still help with SEO and should not be overlooked. Many of the press release sites will allow you to bookmark the article on social networking sites which will help boost exposure.

The nice thing about press releases is that the whole process, from writing to distribution can be outsourced. This is a great way to offer the service and not burden your time.

Using Private Label Rights for Your Content

Using private label rights for content is something that many bloggers do successfully. It can be a drain on your resources to have to either write content yourself or pay heavily for it through outsourcing. You might be thinking, “there has to be another way!” There is — and that is using PLR.

Content sold with private label rights is usually released by writers to several different buyers. That means you do not get exclusive rights to the content. In general, you will be required to rewrite the content a little in order to make it stand apart from others’. However, the bulk of the work is done for you! You do not have to do any research or heavy formatting work.

You’ll love that buying PLR content is quite a bit less expensive than outsourcing content. In fact, the standard market price for private label rights is usually around $1-$2 per article. This is something that most bloggers can actually afford! You will want to add your own voice and put your own spin on it, but it can save you literally hours of work. In some cases, you can even use the content as it is, if the writer allows for those rights. It’s not always recommended to leave it as-is, but if you’re short on time and want to have constant, fresh content, it can be a good option for you.

Though there are many perks, it can be hard to find killer content that will work for you. Some of what is out there is pure rubbish! There are definitely some providers that are better than others, so do your due diligence.

You can find some great PLR at the Warrior Forum and by doing Internet searches in Google. Be sure that you’re able to see at least a small sample of the writing before you make your purchase. Also, check and make sure that the content has not been widely distributed to others. Fresh PLR content will not be saturated, and you’re likely to see many more benefits with it.

This is yet another way to make sure you have killer content for your blog. You can write the content yourself, outsource it, or use PLR. The use of private label rights will help you stay fresh and relevant in your niche and in the search engines.

What Should You Feed Your Pup?

Owners have a variety of option on the market to choose from when looking for a dog food. Your dog’s nutrition impacts every aspect of their lives. Growth, behavior, health, and mood are all affected by what goes into your dog’s body.

If you are a new dog owner, you may be overwhelmed when you walk into a pet store and go into the food isle. You will be inundated with choices:

  • Premium
  • Natural
  • Healthy
  • Organic
  • Lite
  • Raw

With so much to decide on it seems like almost an impossible decision. Many dog owners find it so overwhelming they will just go to their vet and see what they recommend for them to use. This is not a bad idea. I always recommend having a veterinarians’ input on the health and care of your dog. The information that I’m going to provide to you is for your own personal knowledge, if you would like to do your research and make this decision on your own.

Feeding Your Dog

The key components that we want to get out of the food we feed our dogs is health. This encompasses how long your dog will live and the quality of their life.

There are three main types of dog food categories that you have to choose from.

  1. Commercial Dog Food
  2. Homemade Dog Food
  3. Raw Dog Food

Commercial dog food is going to be the food that you find on the shelves at your local grocery store, pet store or veterinarian. This includes wet and dry foods. Commercial dog food is by far the most popular and easiest choice to make. If you Google the term “dog food” you will find over 60,000,000 matches and most are all links to places to buy commercial dog food products. While commercial dog food is the most readily available, it may not be the best choice for your dog.

Homemade dog food is anything you make yourself. The problem with homemade dog food is that there are food items available on the market, which are not good for dogs. Unless you are well educated on what your dog should and should not eat, this option is not for you. If you have read up on the safe foods for dogs and want to experiment with this option, there are many recipes out their on the net for homemade dog food. You will get over 30,000 matches if you Google “homemade dog food recipes.”

Here is a sample recipe:

Lucky and Rippy’s Favorite Dog Food

Prep Time: 15 Minutes

Cook Time: 35 Minutes

Ready In: 50 Minutes

Servings: 12

Ingredients:

  • 3 pounds minced chicken meat
  • 2 1/2 cups frozen vegetable blend (no garlic or onions), minced
  • 4 cups rice
  • 6 1/2 cups water

Directions:

  1. Place chicken, vegetables, and rice into a large saucepan or Dutch oven. Stir in water until the mixture is smooth. Place over medium-high heat and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  2. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until the rice is tender and all of the liquid has been absorbed, about 25 minutes. Cool completely before serving; store covered in the refrigerator.

If you are interest in going the Raw Dog Food way there are many websites that tailor to this food option. Nature’s Variety is a popular choice. Most of the meals on a raw diet are sent to you are frozen organic meals composed of meat, organs, and raw ground bone, with wholesome fruits and vegetables. Common ingredients found in the meals are: Chicken, Turkey, Apples, Carrots, Squash, Flaxseed, eggs, Broccoli, Lettuce, Spinach, Dried Kelp, Apple Cider Vinegar, Parsley, Honey, Salmon Oil, Olive Oil, Blueberries, Rosemary, Sage, Clove.

The BARF diet is another popular choice amongst raw food diets. BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) is all about feeding pets a diet based on human grade whole foods.

Dogs can be expensive to care for, and food is one of the main costs that go along with a dog. Some dog owners feel that they wouldn’t feed their dog what they wouldn’t feed themselves and chose the homemade or raw food choices. Other dog owners feel that millions of dogs every year eat commercial food and survive just fine.

If you can afford a little more of an investment for your dog, I would recommend you try the homemade or the raw food choices first. I think you will like the results that you see with your dogs health. If you can only afford the commercial option, make sure to check with your vet for the best choice for your dog.

Survey Your Audience to Find Their Pain

Whether you plan on creating your own product or promoting one as an affiliate, you have to have a deep understanding of the audience you are trying to sell to. If you don’t have an understanding, yoSurvey Your Audienceur promotions will be a lot less effective than they would be otherwise. Surveying your audience is one of the best ways to improve your marketing efforts, make more money, and help people at the same time!

There are a variety of different ways you can survey your audience. Most logically, you can set up an actual survey! SurveyMonkey.com is very commonly used. You set up your own survey to ask your audience questions about what they are going through, and what would help them. Ask them what they are passionate about and why.

You want to get as deeply into their minds as possible — you want to find out where their pain is so you can market to emotions and offer them the solutions they are desperate for. This works best if you already have a steady stream of traffic coming into your website. Alternatively, you can set up a Pay Per Click campaign that entices people to take your survey after they click through to your site.

Of course, you have to consider that people are very busy these days. You can thank people for their time in a variety of ways. For example, giving them a free gift upon completion.

After you have a large enough pool of people you have surveyed, you can examine the date and make changes to your marketing from there. This works well for creating a product because you’ll be able to match the product with everything your survey revealed and more!

You can also do less formal surveys through market research. For instance, you can browse through niche forums where people in your niche regularly hang out. Take notes on what drives them. Examine what language they use to talk to one another and as they talk about their hobby, passion, or problem. Go deeply into their minds by examining topics that frequently come up (you can usually sort forums by threads that are most read or most replied to).

While this is not a “survey” per se, it’s still a good option for getting to the heart of the people in your niche if you don’t have the desire or time to set up a formal survey right now. Researching on forums is an awesome way to improve your affiliate sales or sales of your own product because it can give you a wealth of ideas and insight into the people of your niche in a way that you would not be able to get otherwise.

It’s very important that you start to survey your audience as soon as possible, because it can give you some insights you would never have gotten otherwise.

Gathering Statistics for Your Blog

As a blogger, you’ll definitely want to pay close attention to what the traffic numbers are for your blog. You will also want to know your conversion rates for affiliate marketing offers, CPA offers, and Adsense. The good news is that there are some easy-to-use tools that can help you track all of these statistics, and more.

One of the first things you’ll want to know is what kind of traffic you are getting to your blog on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. The most standard way of determining this is by using your Awstats in your cPanel.

Keep in mind that this level of tracking is only for self-hosted blogs. If you’re using something like WordPress.com or Blogger.com you may not have access to this information, and will have to use other scripts or other methods instead. Awstats will give you standard information, such as how many unique visitors you’re getting, how many hits you got total, when the search engine spiders visited last, and where your traffic is coming from.

Once you have this type of information, you can work on improving your rankings by focusing on the keywords you are already ranking for (sometimes all they need is a little push!). If you’re not getting traffic from certainKnow Your Stats desired keywords, you will know to work extra hard on ranking for those as well. You’ll also know where your referral traffic is coming from, and it’s always helpful to know what is working and what isn’t!

It’s important to note that Awstats is limited in many ways. Many people prefer to use something like Google Analytics instead. This tool will give you wealth of information, including the top keywords used to find your blog in the search engines and how many people found your site using that keyword. You’ll also get detailed information about your bounce rate, problems or issues with your site, indexed pages, and what actions were taken on your site by visitors.

Keep in mind that some bloggers do not like Google having all this information (many are worried it will affect rankings, especially if you’re heavy into making affiliate sales). In this case, you may want to use a script called Piwik instead. This script works similarly to Google Analytics, but you host the script on your own domain so you know the information is safe and secure.

In addition to analyzing information such as your traffic and where the traffic is coming from, you will want to pay attention to your conversion rates. Note that in the back end of your affiliate admin area, you should be able to find how many sales you’re making, what your click through rate is, which specific links are making you the most sales, and so on. You can find the same tracking information in the admin area of your CPA networks. You can even go deeper into tracking with products like Prosper 202 and Xtreme Conversions.

Analyzing this information can definitely help you to increase your conversions. It can help you determine what changes you might want to make if you’re not making as many sales as you’d like. It can even help you decide when it’s time to try another method of monetization.

If you manage this information well and pay attention to the statistics, you can become far more successful over time. There is definitely no reason to delay in starting to understand and utilize your statistics as early as possible for maximum success!

The W’s Of Dog Obedience Training

It still amazes me how many people never take their dogs to at least one obedience class. Why wouldn’t you want a dog that was well trained and a good listener? I think that too many people think that they can handle all of the obedience training on their own, and don’t want to take the time or money to attend a structured class. Many times these owners end up yelling a great deal at their puppies to get them to do what they want, or stop doing a destructive behavior.

Let me tell you a little about what you should get out of your obedience training with your dog.

  1. Help to establish the pet/master relationship
  2. Raises the safety level for your dog and those around him
  3. Teaches your dog right from wrong
  4. Shows your dog the rules, how to follow them, and the rewards that they will receive for doing a good job
  5. Lays the foundation for leash training, barking control, biting management, and the other training techniques that we have discussed.
  6. Obedience training can be a fun experience for you and your dog to share. Just as you might take a young child to a play gym, this is a time where you can share a doggie class with your new pup.
  7. Your dog will begin to gain confidence as he learns more commands and good behavior.

Here are the most common commands that your dog will learn in training:

  • Sit
  • Down
  • Come
  • Stay
  • Heel
  • Fetch
  • Stand
  • Leave it

Now that you know some of the benefits of dog obedience, I’d like to spend a little time on the risks of not training your dog. I feel that the main risk comes from a safety standpoint. No matter how cute your dog may seem, you must remember that it is still an animal. You must teach your dog from an early age 1) who is master and 2) proper behavior.

Did you know that the number one reason for dogs ending up in animal shelters are that their owners found them too much to handle? Untrained dogs are extremely difficult to manage.

Try to picture your “untrained” dog as an unruly teenager; now picture leaving for a night out. Chances are your mind starts to wander wondering what mischief they might beObedience Traininggetting into at home. You may begin cutting your time out short to get back to the dog to see what they destroyed this time.

An untrained dog also causes unhappy neighbors. If your dog has a barking problem, you will not be the favorite family on the block. If your dog bites or jumps too much, your children might not have many friends come over for play dates because their parents fear for their own children’s safety.

Your house may also become an arena for yelling. This is not a pleasant environment for you of for your dog to live in. “NO SPOT,” “STOP SPOT,” ” NO NO NO.”

Tips to Make Training Successful

  • Reward your dog when he follows a command
  • Correct your dog when he does not do what he was been taught
  • Make sure to repeat the commands several times so your dog learns them
  • Ensure that you and the other dog caregivers use the same command words and actions
  • Continue to show your dog right from wrong
  • Never punish your dog, just continue to correct
  • Keep your training sessions short, as dogs don’t have a long attention span
  • Master one command before moving to the next one. Then continue to reinforce the mastered commands as your dog learns more commands.
  • Make sure that the person who spends the most time with your dog is present at the training sessions
  • Learn what motivates your dog to be on his best behavior. This might be a belly rub, a favorite toy, or a special treat

This is all stuff that you should now know, and should have been doing for at least a couple of months now that you’ve been involved in our online training, but if you haven’t been doing it actively, it might be time to seek some outside help before things get out of hand.

Check your local pet stores for obedience classes or recommendations. Also, ask friends and neighbors who have been through the classes themselves with their own dogs. You are going to want to look for a class that uses human training methods. You might be surprised that some classes actually promote violence as a way to train your dog. Look for a trainer who promotes rewarding your dog, as opposed to intimidation and hitting.

You will also want to make sure that it is an accredited school with good credentials. Finding an experienced trainer will also give you and your dog a leg up. Try to meet the trainer before you sign up for the class. You want to find someone who has a natural affection towards dogs, and not just someone punching their time card. Many dog school will allow you to come and observe an actual class before making your decision. Don’t be afraid to ask questions (at an appropriate time after the demo or observation class).

It may take visiting or calling a few locations, but you will find one that suits the needs of you and your dog if you know what you are looking for going in.
